Privacy and analytics choices
Lumuwala is an editorial publication with shared commercial ownership. This page describes the analytics implemented on this journal and how to change your choice.
Your analytics choice
Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity load only after you choose “Allow analytics.” You can read the journal with them off. We store your choice in a first-party cookie and use browser storage to synchronize it between tabs. The cookie, lumuwala_analytics_v1, lasts approximately six months so we do not ask on every page.
Use or the same control in the footer to change your choice. Turning analytics off removes the journal's accessible Google Analytics and Clarity cookies and reloads the page so those scripts stop loading. It does not erase information already processed by the providers.
What optional analytics does
Google Analytics 4 helps us understand page visits, referrers, approximate location and device or browser information. Microsoft Clarity helps us understand interactions such as scrolling and clicks through usage analysis and session replay. These services receive technical information needed to process a visit, including network and device information.
Our implementation denies advertising storage and advertising personalization. It does not load Meta, Pinterest or PostHog tags, use an advertising conversion API, or forward a hashed visitor identity through store links.
See Google's privacy policy and Microsoft's privacy statement for provider practices. Provider cookie lifetimes and retention depend on their settings and policies; we do not describe analytics data as anonymous.
Hosting and messages
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes requests to deliver and protect the site. Ordinary request information can include an IP address, URL, browser information and time. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
If you email us, we receive the address and information you include so we can respond. Do not send payment-card details, medical records or other sensitive information with a routine editorial correction. This journal does not provide user accounts or checkout.
Other websites
External sources and related stores have their own policies and choices. Following a link means your browser connects to that destination; our analytics choice does not control the destination's behavior.
Contact and privacy requests
Email hello@lumuwala.com to ask about access, correction, deletion or other privacy rights that apply where you live. Include only the information needed to explain the request. We may need proportionate information to identify the relevant records.
